Save the Date cards with vellum layers tied together with grommets or eyelets are gaining popularity due to their unique and elegant look. Firstly, the vellum, a translucent paper, adds a luxurious layered effect to the save the date, enhancing the overall aesthetic appeal. Secondly, the translucent nature of vellum paper creates an intriguing, layered effect, revealing the important details beneath in a stylish manner. The inclusion of grommets or eyelets not only secures these delicate layers together but also contributes an additional element of elegance to the design. These "Save the Date" cards beautifully blend traditional elements with a modern twist, providing a delightful first impression for your guests and setting the tone for your event in a memorable way.
Layered Vellum Save the Date cards with grommets are currently a hot topic in the wedding planning world. This trend has been gaining popularity for several reasons:
Elegance and Sophistication: The translucent nature of vellum adds a layer of sophistication to these cards. It creates a beautiful, layered effect, revealing the important details beneath in an enchanting way.
Unique Design: Grommets or eyelets not only serve a functional purpose by securing the vellum layers together but also contribute to the aesthetic appeal of the card. This combination of vellum and grommets results in a design that stands out from traditional "Save the Date" cards.
Customisation: Vellum offers a high degree of customization, enabling couples to create designs that truly reflect their personal style and the theme of their upcoming event.
Versatility: Vellum is not just used for the main card but also for bundling together other elements of the invitation suite, such as RSVP cards and detail cards. This adds an extra dimension to the design and makes the entire package more cohesive and attractive.
Given these factors, it's no surprise that Layered Vellum Save the Date cards with grommets are in high demand. These cards offer a perfect blend of tradition and modernity, making them a popular choice among couples planning their special day.
Vellum can be thin like paper or thicker like card. It’s rather like tracing paper. The translucent nature allows colours and images to show through from underneath.
These are easily confused, and names are often used interchangeably as they gain more popularity in the world of craft and in particular, stationery. In a nutshell grommets are 2 pieces pressed together in a pre-punched hole, eyelets are a single piece with a hole in the centre that is pressed and folds onto a piece of fabric, and rivets are solid without a hole in the middle.
A grommet is like a friendly little two-piece helper in the world of card crafting. It's carefully pressed through a pre-made hole in the card, creating a sturdy and neat finish. High-quality grommets are typically made from brass or stainless steel, metals that are as malleable as they are durable. When the grommet is installed, these metals cheerfully flare and roll to lock the two parts together, securing the card snugly in between. It's a small addition that adds a big touch of class to your card.
Eyelets can sometimes be a bit perplexing. This is because smaller grommets are occasionally called eyelets, much like the tiny holes that your shoelaces thread through. However, more often than not, an eyelet refers to a uniquely styled piece of hardware.
An eyelet is a single component of a more traditional and somewhat labour-intensive method of reinforcing a hole. It's typically used with brass rings. The process starts with hand-sewing a brass ring over a pre-punched hole in the material or fabric. Then, the eyelet, which is usually made from soft brass, is pressed into the centre of the ring. A setting die is then used to lock the eyelet securely in place. It's a bit of an art form, really!
Rivets are generally designed to permanently hold 2 or more parts together. They usually have a relatively flat, disk-shaped head and a solid centre.
At Vintage Prints we use grommets. We find this gives the nicest finish on both the front and back. The hole means ribbon or twine can be added and grommets come in various colours.
