Use Our Table Plan Cards to Show Your Guests to Their Seats in Style

Wedding table plan cards are not only a brilliant way to simplify a sit-down dinner, especially at large gatherings, but they also add a fabulous final flourish to your decor. At Vintage Prints, as well as individual table plan cards, you can also choose from either A1 and A2 table plans or A3 table plans and our themes range from rustic to botanical, so you're bound to fall in love with at least one of our designs. What’s the Difference between Table Plans, Table Plan Cards and Place Cards?

Working out the purpose of different wedding stationery items can be as challenging as finding the dream dress. To help, here are the definitions of three popular cards used to organise your reception seating plan:

1. Table plan - A single board with all the tables on it. These list the names of everyone sitting at each table.
2. Table plan cards — individual cards - each table is on a separate card and lists the names of everyone sitting at that particular table. These can either be placed on the table itself or hung up or pinned to a board at the entrance to your reception venue.
3. Table number / name cards — Cards placed on each table with the name or number of your table on them. This helps your guests to find the right table and links the table plan or table plan cards to each table.
4. Place cards — each place card has one of your guest's names, and sometimes even a role written on it, and sits at their place setting on the table. It's another way to help people find their seats, and when beautifully designed, they make an excellent memento for them to take home and treasure.

Wedding Table Seating Etiquette

When creating a seating plan for your reception, trying to keep your nearest and dearest happy can be a real balancing act. However, the most important point to remember is that you can break the rules as your wedding day is all about you and your new spouse, not people-pleasing. Here are a few tips and tricks to help make table planning a breeze:

1. Traditionally, the newlyweds, their parents, the best man, the maid of honour, and their plus-ones sit together at a top table. But everyone's family dynamic is different, so feel free to include grandparents, siblings and any other close relatives, or opt for a sweetheart table, just for the two of you instead.
2. If you have several little ones attending your wedding, consider including a kids table piled high with colouring books, games, and bubbles to keep them entertained. Just make sure you don't sit them too far away from their parents.
3. No matter how you decide to categorise your tables, for example, school friends, colleagues or your parent's acquaintances, make sure everyone sits with at least a couple of others they know, as no one likes feeling like a stranger!
4. Try to be conscious of people's individual needs. Is your sister pregnant? Sit her close to the toilets. Do you have an elderly uncle who's hard of hearing? Make sure he's far away from the dance floor speakers. Are your friends particularly fond of a tipple? Position their table closest to the bar.
