We use foil blocking / hot foil stamping to press a stunning monogram or design into your pocketfold. Not to be confused with the more affordable digital foiling, this traditional foiling is all done by hand to create a unique finish. It requires specialist printing equipment and a lot of time and patience as they are printed one at a time.

This is one of the most luxurious effects that can be applied to card. It provides eye-catching elegance and glamour and adds a luxurious, formal feel to any wedding stationery. The imprint leaves a tactile impression that, coupled with the foil, catches the light and draws the eye to it.

Like with letterpress, a custom metal block or die is created and used to imprint letters or a design onto paper or card. Instead of using ink, a thin foil film is positioned between the die and the card. When pressed and heated, a bond is formed, and the foil is pressed onto the card. This provides a beautiful, de-bossed, shiny metallic imprint. Because foil is opaque, it can be printed on dark papers with no show through. The contrasting card texture, imprint, and shiny or matt foiling bring your stationery to life.

Please note that these are hand pressed so the foil imprint can have minute variances and the design may not always be in the same precise position on every item as subtle movement can occur during pressing.

WHAT LETTERS/DESIGN CAN I HAVE?
Each die/block is custom made and therefore unique to your order. You tell us what initials you’d like to have on the pocketfolds, and we’ll help to create it. You can even provide your own monogram or logo if you like. There are limitations to size and detailing but we will discuss this with you in detail when you order.

VARIATIONS EXPLAINED
POCKETFOLD COLOUR:
We currently have 11 standard colours to choose from.
Kraft brown pocketfolds are 280gsm and feature a darker shade on the front with a slightly paler reverse. They are made from recycled card and shade variations are normal. Other colours vary from 270gsm – 300gsm and the colour is the same both front and back. All are of a beautiful quality.

POCKETFOLD FLAT OR GLUED
Pocketfolds can be supplied flat or pre-assembled by us. If you’d like to assemble them yourself, we recommend using either a strong glue or double-sided sticky tape. The only other things you need are time and patience! If you really can’t be doing with it, you can always opt for us to glue them for you.

BUTTON MAGNETS
We have some great little round button magnets that make closing and opening the pocketfolds a doddle. Simply stick these onto the inside of the flap and in the corresponding position on the closed pocketfold.
As this listing is for DIY pocketfolds, the magnets and stickers will be supplied in separate stacks for you to attach yourself. You will receive 2 per pocketfold. Remember to stick them the right way around so that the poles attract!

FOIL COLOUR
We offer Gold, Rose Gold, Copper, and Silver foiling as standard but there are many other foil colours available, including matt colours. Please contact us for details if there is something else you would like, and we’ll see what’s available. There may be a small surcharge for some foil types.

PROOFS
As the initials imprint or design is bespoke, you will receive a digital proof so that you can check that you are completely happy with it and can make any amendments before we send them to print. Once you have approved the proof, it cannot be changed so it is important you check it very carefully and that you are completely happy with the design. Please note that these are hand pressed so the design may not always be in the same precise position on every item as subtle movement can occur during pressing.

PORTRAIT OR LANDSCAPE
The design can be pressed onto the pocketfold in a portrait position as shown in our images, or landscape. Your proofs will show you the positioning so please ensure you are happy with it before approving them for print.

TURNAROUND
These take longer to produce as there are several processes to go through. First, we create the design. We then have a metal block made. Once the block/die arrives we can start the printing process. The pocketfolds are printed by hand, one at a time. Please allow a total of 2 – 3 weeks for them to be ready to dispatch. If you need them sooner, there is an option to add Priority Processing to the order during checkout. The order will then be processed as quickly as possible and be prioritised at each stage.

ENVELOPE OPTIONS
ENVELOPE COLOUR:  If you would like plain envelopes, simply click on the colour you would like. We’ve searched for a long time to find the best quality envelopes at affordable prices and are really happy with what we now stock. If you do need a different colour, let us know and we’ll see what we can find.

If you would like envelopes with a matching imprint, these will need to be ordered separately. Please contact us for details.

YOUR TEXT
This is where you can write any notes about your order. If you prefer you can email it to us afterwards at your convenience. Any attachments or images will need to be emailed to us separately.

QUANTITY
In order to keep costs down we have a minimum order quantity of 30 for each variation (each block or die is unique)! Should you ever need reprints, please contact us for a separate quote.

Please note that all recycled Kraft brown items can have shade variations as it is a natural product. Sizes can vary slightly from batch to batch (+/- 2mm) because heated machinery can expand causing minor changes. Subtle variations in cutting and folding can also occur.

Choose your options using the drop-down menus. Either include the details for your impression in the order notes or email us separately. Any images or attachments will need to be emailed separately.
Once we receive your order, we’ll get to work on creating proofs to show you what the finished item will look like. Proofs are normally drawn up within 2 – 3 working days.
Once you have approved the proof, we will order the metal die. This can take up to a week to arrive depending on the time of year and postal delays.
Once we have the metal die, we need around 6 working days to print the pocketfolds.
Depending on whether amendments are made to the proofs, it normally takes around 2 – 3 weeks plus delivery time to produce your beautiful pocketfolds. They are well worth the wait!

I NEED THESE QUICKLY
If you need your order quickly then please check the ‘Priority Processing’ box during checkout and be sure to also select the courier or fastest shipping method available for your postcode. Please note that with priority processing we do proofs and send your order to print as a priority however, foiling still takes a minimum of 5 - 7 full working days to complete! We will also prioritise packing and dispatch once the foiling is complete.

After you have approved your proof, we aim to dispatch your order within 4 - 15 working days, depending on your product type (please see individual product details for dispatch times). Samples are usually dispatched within 1 - 3 working days. Shipping times may vary due to bank holidays or during busy periods.

Royal Mail 2nd Class postage and a standard courier takes between 3-5 working days.  
Royal Mail 1st Class postage takes 2 – 3 working days.
*Next Day Delivery takes 1 or 2 working days (weekends & holidays excluded).
